The Druids held annual gatherings in Gaul at the sacred grove in the territory of the Carnutes tribe, the site upon which the famed Chartres Cathedral was built. Caesar wrote that Druidism originated in Britain and that those who sought the finest training in the discipline would travel there to study. According to Caesar, it took 20 years to become a Druid of the highest order all teachings were transmitted orally and committed to memory. They were priests and augurs, teachers and judges, transmitters of history, and holders of sacred memory. The Druids were an elite class among the Celts, enjoying many privileges – such as exemption from taxes and from serving during war – and were accorded a great amount of respect and social power. The other sections included background and discussion on Celtic divinities, shrines and sacred places, the Celtic concept of the afterlife, the cult of the head, and the sacred year. Because of the collectavist nature of their people when the ruling caste makes a decision the entire Kil'tor Union will support the decision.īecause of their position on the rim of the galaxy the Kil'tor have had no real contact with other empires, excluding the Aroñi Confederacy.This is part 4 of a 4 part series. Of the different castes the religious group carries the most power and as such rule over the entire race. Their society is broken up into five different castes religous, warrior, worker, science and service. The Kil'tor religion is based off the idea that the High Priest, or "sha'no'tok" is actually the avatar of their god.
When they found out that many of the other empires governments were not ruled by their religious leaders the Kil'tor broke off contact with the Aroñi, considering them "godless heathens". Since then they have expanded their boarders and eventually made contact with the Aroñi Confederacy. Several probes were sent into Paroñe space but nothing was ever gleened from them so the Kil'tor Union ignored them. After developing space travel the first contact the Kil'tor had was with the automated border patrols from the Paroñe. The Kil'tor Union is a race of insecticoids and their communal nature has brought about a collectiavist theocracy.
